It may be just the opener of the 2019 World Cup Qualifiers, but tickets for the Gilas Pilipinas-Japan match slated this November 24 have already sold out, a Japan Basketball Association official told FIBA.com.
Tickets for the Qualifiers’ curtain-raiser, which will be held at the Komazawa Gymnasium in Tokyo — with a seating capacity of 3,875, and which hosted the 1964 Olympic Games — have been sold out since this past Monday.
“I am so pleased to know fans in Japan pay a great deal of attention to the game against Philippines,” JBA secretary-general Michihiro Tanaka shared to FIBA.com.
“I truly hope our team will show their best and start the road to the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 with a victory in front of our home fans.”
The Filipino cagers will next battle Chinese Taipei on home soil at the SMART Araneta Coliseum on November 27 — a much better opportunity for the Gilas faithful to watch and show support to their beloved team.
However, as of this posting, the SMART-Araneta Coliseum has yet to release details regarding the sale of tickets.
