Palestine dominates Chinese-Taipei to take third place


After blowing a 2-0 lead in the first half, the Palestine Football Team would go on to trample the Chinese-Taipei Football team in extra time, 7-3, scoring four goals in a span of twenty-minutes.

The first ten minutes of the fixture saw Chinese-Taipei concede two goals in the first ten minutes, with Palestine’s Muradi M. Said and Ahmed Wridat managing to find the net in the 8th and 10th minutes of the half. The Palestinians would continue to dominate in the first half, controlling possession of the ball while managing to dish out attack after attack The Palestinians would gain the opportunity to bury their opponents three goals to none shortly before halftime after winning a free kick inches from the penalty box, but Chinese-Taipei goalkeeper Pan Wei-Chih would manage to block the free kick.

The Taiwanese would finally show signs of life in the fifth minute, a successful penalty kick resulted in Chinese Taipei’s first goal. A player from Chinese taipei would find the means to equalize at the 70th minute, afterYen Ho Shien managed to find the ball in the middle of a goalpost scramble. Chinese-Taipei would finally overtake after an 80th minute goal from Lin Chang-Lunwould put the Taiwanese up 3-2, but Palestine’s #19 would equalize a minute into injury time after managing to find net from a rush to the goalpost. Palestine’s #15 would have the chance to steal back the lead, but failed to score from the cross in mid-attack.

The Palestinians would open the extra period attacking the goalpost, but found themselves unable to find the net. Come the second half extra time, Palestine’s Wrisat would manage to bag the elusive fourth goal after a series of inside passes. Mere minutes later, Abdallatif M.S Albahdari would take the score to 5-3. The Palestinians would however prove unsatisfied with sealing the win, after Wrisat would manage to hit another goal to complete the hat-trick and Abdallah Jaber scoring with the Taiwanese goalkeeper unable to put so much as an attempt to defend. By the time the buzzer sounded, the Palestinians would go away the winner for the battle for third.
