Mylene Paat revealed that she is expected to miss some games for Chery Tiggo in the 2024 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference due to his upcoming tryout in the Korean V-League.
Paat is one of the three Filipinas who joined the KOVO draft along with Creamline’s Tots Carlos and Petro Gazz’s MJ Phillips. The combine will run from April 29 to May 1 and the earliest that she can return is on May 2, which will force him to miss two games.
The 30-year-old former league MVP, however, is confident that the rest of the Crossovers’ wing spiker rotation can pick up the slack.
“Siguro may mga mami-miss ‘man ako dito sa semis but then I’m pretty sure na ready yung ibang teammates ko kung sakaling ipasok sila,” said Paat after Chery Tiggo’s five-set win over Galeries Tower on Thursday.
With Paat’s impending absence, Shaya Adorador, EJ Laure, and Cess Robles are expected to step up for the Crossovers in the round-robin semifinals, which is set to begin on Tuesday.
The former PVL Reinforced Conference Best Opposite spiker, who went undrafted in the previous KOVO draft, shared that her main goal in joining the draft again is to gain more experience and exposure.
Paat also thanked the Chery Tiggo management for giving her their full support in her new endeavor.
“Yung pag-tryout ko sa Korea is I’m not expecting na matanggap ako. It’s part of my exposure, experience na rin. I’m so thankful naman kay Coach Kungfu (Reyes) and sa management namin na Chery kasi fully supportive naman sila sa pagta-tryout ko.”
