Canned sardines are one of the most basic relief items amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
That’s why Zamboanga-Family’s Brand Sardines provided aid to some 150 staff members and referees of the Chooks-to-Go Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League during this trying time.
“That is what family is for. We don’t just show our compassion in good times, but more during difficult times. We treat MPBL as a family too,” said Family’s Brand Sardines head of marketing Tonet Roque, who is also in charge of the Robin Rono-led Zamboanga’s day-to-day operations.
“We are representing the City of Zamboanga, and as the sardines capital of the Philippines, we felt the need to support the staff of the MPBL, ‘yung mga tunay na Manok ng Bayan ng ating liga.”
Family’s Brand Sardines gave one box of different Universal Canning Incorporated (UCI) products to each staff member and referee. Each box contains 48 cans.
The goods were picked up by two MPBL personnel at UCI’s plant in Malabon, who then distributed the boxes to the staff.
Just as their brand name says, Roque reminds everyone to look after one’s family in this ongoing pandemic.
“Mga ka-Liga, in this time of crisis, nothing matters most than our family. Whatever happens or however long this will take, we will get by with the help of our family,” she stressed.
“Remember, there is one name that will surely not run out of supply to help us through, Family’s Brand Sardines!”
