It was a tough day for Yuka Saso in Aichi, but she got some reprieve.
The Filipina-Japanese golfer had a hard-luck second round in the ongoing DESCENTE Ladies Tokai Classic after slipping to a tie at 26th spot with a 1-over 73 at the Shin Minami Aichi Country Club, Saturday afternoon.
Nonetheless, Saso showed her power to finish as the Driving Queen, pocketing the top prize of PHP 230,000 at this leg of the LPGA Tour of Japan.
A relatively strong opening round last Friday saw the tour rookie in joint-10th with 4-under 68. This time, though, Saso found it hard to get going during the day.
Her day started early at 7 a.m., and she had to do an extra shot at the very first hole. Another bogey at 6th hole saw her slip with a 2-over after the front nine.
A series of par at the next nine holes from the 24-year-old characterized her day, with even a birdie at the 12th hole not enough to rescue her round.
Nonetheless, the leading JLPGA Player of the Year looks to improve on her ranking as the DESCENTE tournament concludes on Sunday.
