ECHO pulled out another trick up its sleeve against Bren Esports on Friday night.
With Bren Esports taking over Game Two all thanks to Jomari “Jowm” Pingol’s Moskov, ECHO had to be creative. They engineered an emphatic backdoor play that allowed them to complete the sweep, 2-0, in the MPL Philippines Season 10 at the ICITE Auditorium.
Despite taking the advantage early in the match, ECHO failed to keep its momentum as Jowm spearheaded Bren Esports’ fightback that allowed them to take control of the Lord area during the 25th minute.
And due to the presence of David “FlapTzy” Canon’s Masha, Dale “Stowm” Vidor’s Kadita, and Vincent “JOY BOY” De Guzman’s Grock, Yawi believed that fighting Bren Esports head on inside the Lord pit would not do ECHO any good.
With that in mind, Tristan “Yawi” Cabrera brought up the scheme that they have been yielding positive results with in their scrimmages.
With Sanford “Sanford” Vinuya (Uranus) and Alston “Sanji” Pabico (Yve) distracting the Bren Esports contingent, Yawi (Chou), Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno (Fanny), and Bennedict “Bennyqt” Gonzales (Beatrix) camped inside the bush between the Motlen Fiend’s pit and Bren Esports’ base.
Once the wave of minions made it into the middle lane, the troika went on to take down the base and secure the jaw-dropping victory.
Ayun, na-diretso namin tapos gumana,” he added.
Yawi, who was the brain behind the genius call, deflected the credit to his teammates. He said that ECHO’s unwavering trust with one another was really the factor behind the victory.
ECHO assistant coach Robert “Trebor” Sanchez, meanwhile, revealed that the team has been doing the play regularly during their scrimmages but insisted that it is only possible if Beatrix is in the roster.
The win upped ECHO’s standing to a league-best 7-2 with 17 points which helped them force a tie with RSG PH (6-3) at the second spot.
