Work Auster Force averted an upset against Laus Playbook Esports, 2-1, to keep its upper bracket hopes alive in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League-Philippines Season Seven regular season, Sunday afternoon.
The win puts Work in contention for the last upper bracket slot in Group A with 23 points through an 8-5 record. But a win from Bren Esports later against Smart Omega Esports will relegate Work down the lower bracket.
“Yung Game One po ano, parang yung napagusapan kagabi na draft naiba… Pahinga lang kami onti, tapos practice agad,” said Daniel “Chuuu” Chu.
“Bawi na lang next season sa [LPE] good luck na lang sa career niyo,” added Chuuu.
With Joshua “Aspect” Tating back in the fold, Playbook leaned on his Granger and snowballed right through Work to take a dominant Game One victory.
Work, who was vying for a spot in the upper bracket, failed to establish a footing in the match as Playbook kept on gunning with their high-tempo composition.
The Rafaela of Erwin “Yakou” Magno provided the Playbook contingent added mobility to secure objectives after objectives which caused the snowball.
Aspect ended the game with six kills and five assists without a single death to nab the SMART MVP award.
Looking to salvage a spot in the upper bracket, Work relied on initiations from Frediemar “3MarTzy” Serafico’s Barats and excellent layering of skills from Patrick “rTzy” Ibarra’s Selena to send the series to a decider.
RTzy won the SMART MVP with five kills, a death, and eight assists in the 14-3 Game Two win.
Work Auster Force secured the win through an impressive Pharsa performance coming from Clarense “Kousei” Camilo.
The Work rookie finished with four kills, a death, and six assists in the 17-8 Game Three victory.
Playbook, who is now eliminated from the main draw, ended its MPL stint with nine points through a 3-10 win-loss standing.
