Veterans help Adamson stave off Saint Benilde

The Adamson University Lady Falcons leaned on their veteran trio to escape the College of Saint Benilde Lady Blazers, 25-22, 22-25, 25-22, 25-21, for their second win in the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

Pint-sized open hitter Bernadette Flora and towering opposite hitter Eli Soyud each tallied 17 points, while lanky middle blocker Joy Dacoron added 13 markers for the Lady Falcons.

Despite her team’s 2-0 start, head coach Air Padda was concerned with Adamson’s inconsistent efforts.

“It’s still ugly, it’s still so inconsistent,” a disappointed Padda rued, adding that most of her players had yet to develop a solid connection. “We’ve got players just coming back to training so I know that we can definitely play better.”

Each set unfolded like the end of the fourth. With the Lady Falcons clinging to a 22-20 lead, the Lady Blazers gave up two errors and a chance ball, allowing the Lady Falcons to close the match.

Opposite hitter Klarisa Abriam led the Lady Blazers with 14 points while Marites Pablo added 12.

CSB (0-3) take on NCAA Season 93 Women’s Volleyball finalists San Beda Lady Red Spikers (0-2) on Thursday. Adamson (2-0) face the league-leading and UAAP rivals Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws (3-0) on Sunday. Both games will be held at the same venue.
