Vanessa De Jesus, Duke fall to no. 4 NC State

No. 16-ranked Duke succumbed to fourth-ranked NC State in a rivalry game in the Atlantic Coast Conference, 84-60, Monday morning (Manila time) at Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Vanessa De Jesus played 24 minutes in the game, finishing with five points on 2-of-7 shooting from the field with two rebounds and an assist.

The Blue Devils struggled right from the get-go, falling behind 19-9 to end the opening frame and 42-22 at the break.

Senior Elizabeth Balogun tried to rally Duke back to open the second half but the Wolfpack’s firepower proved to be too much.

NC State, who went up to 16-2 overall and 7-0 in conference play, was led by Elisa Cunnane, who had 23 points and six rebounds. Both Jada Boyd and Raina Perez got 10 points each as well.

Duke, meanwhile, fell to 11-3 and an even 2-2 in the ACC.

Shayeann Day-Wilson paced the Blue Devils with 14 points and team-high four assists. Meanwhile, senior Miela Goodchild added a dozen points, three rebounds, and two assists.

Duke wraps up its two-game road stint at Miami on Wednesday.
