Van Sickle ruled out of PVL on Tour; Cayuna withdraws from Alas pool

ILAGAN, Isabela — Brooke Van Sickle is set to miss Nxled’s entire 2026 Premier Volleyball League on Tour Showdown campaign due to a minor right shoulder injury.

Chameleons head coach Ettore Guidetti confirmed the development moments before their match against Creamline at the Capital Arena here.

The three-time PVL MVP traveled with the team to Ilagan for its clash against the Cool Smashers but will remain sidelined throughout the tournament as a precaution while continuing her recovery.

Van Sickle is coming off another stellar campaign in the season-ending All-Filipino Conference. There, she captured her third Best Outside Hitter award and further cemented her status as one of the league’s premier all-around players.

The Nxled captain finished seventh in scoring with 175 points, ranked seventh in spiking with a 33.12-percent success rate; placed ninth in serving with 0.22 aces per set; and was third in receiving efficiency at 40.71-percent.

Guidetti also revealed that newly-acquired setter Gel Cayuna has opted to withdraw from the Alas Pilipinas pool for the upcoming Asian Games to focus on building chemistry with her new team.

Cayuna joined the Chameleons during the offseason after Cignal decided to take a leave of absence from the league.

The 27-year-old playmaker recently capped another impressive campaign with the Super Spikers by winning her second consecutive Best Setter award and fifth career positional honor while helping Cignal finish runner-up in the All-Filipino Conference.

During the conference, Cayuna averaged a league-best 4.48 excellent sets per frame while also contributing 0.34 service aces per set.
