V-League: Perpetual vents ire on San Sebastian, keeps pace for Pool B leadership

University of Perpetual Help System DALTA made quick work of San Sebastian College-Recoletos, 25-17, 25-17, 25-19, to stay in the running for the Pool B top spot in the 2022 V-League Men’s Collegiate Challenge, Sunday at the Paco Arena.

The Altas, who ended the group stage with a 4-1 standing, are banking on an Ateneo de Manila University loss to University of the Philippines later in the day to be able to secure the number one seed.

John Christian Enarciso steered Perpetual’s balanced offensive attack, dishing out 16 excellent sets to go along with three points.

Louie Ramirez scored 14 points on 11 attacks and three kill blocks on top of seven excellent receptions and six excellent digs while Michael Medalla and Joshua Zareno added eight and six markers, respectively.

“Redemption. Kasi galing kami sa pagkatalo, so nag-training kami kahapon. Talagang pinagplanuhan namin kung ano yung gagawin namin today para mas maganda yung maging performance ng mga bata because yung previous game namin sobrang pangit ng laro namin,” said Altas assistant coach Macky Carino, who called the shots in lieu of head coach Sammy Acaylar.

“Sa game namin today, talagang nakabawi kami. Sobrang ganda ng nilaro ng mga bata, at least sana ma-maintain namin yung pinakamataas na standing dito sa group namin,” he added.

Joshua Espenida led the Golden Stags with nine points and four excellent digs while Kyle Angelo Villamor had nine as well on eight attacks and a block.
