V.League: Jaja Santiago tallies six blocks, helps Saitama take fourth straight win

Jaja Santiago’s Saitama nabbed its fourth-straight win after walloping Kurobe, 25-14, 25-18, 25-19, in the 2021-22 V.League Division 1 women’s tournament, Sunday at the Wink Gymnasium.

The 6-foot-5 Filipina import proved once again why she has the most blocks in the league this season, being responsible for six of the nine blocks of Ageo Medics.

Santiago also tallied five attacks to finish with 11 points in the contest.

Meanwhile, Yuka Sato dominated the service department, making three aces to go with nine hits to end with 12 points.

Brazilian reinforcement Lorenne Teixeira added 10 points of her own while Kyoko Aoyagi chipped in eight points.

Saitama rose to 15-8 at fifth place and just 1.5 games behind third seed NEC, which just lost a tight five-setter to Hisamitsu earlier in the day.

American Merete Lutz led the way for the AquaFairies with 15 points on 12 attacks, two blocks, and a service ace.

Pimpichaya Kokram and Kanako Nakayama chimed in seven points each as Kurobe slipped to a league-worst 3-20 standings.

Ageo Medics will meet the Red Rockets on Wednesday, 5 pm (Manila time), at the Saitama Prefectural Budokan.
