V.League: Jaja Santiago gains blocks race lead as Saitama pounds Okayama

After an upset five-setter loss to Toyota Auto Body yesterday, Saitama vented its ire on Okayama, 25-12, 25-17, 28-26, in the 2021-22 V.League Division 1 men’s tournament, Sunday at the Sanyo Fureai Park Gymnasium.

Jaja Santiago still provided the goods in the blocking department with three. She also had five attacks, for a total of eight points.

The Filipina import now leads the entire league in both the blocking rate (0.83) and most blocks (96).

Yuka Sato spearheaded Ageo Medics’ bounce-back game with 18 points. Brazilian reinforcement Lorenne Teixeira did it all with 12 spikes, three aces, and two blocks for 17 points.

Mami Uchiseto also added 12 points.

Saitama rose to 17-13 for sixth while pulling the Seagulls to 12-19 at eighth.

Amika Saiki was the lone bright spot for Okayama, supplying 15 points in the defeat.

Santiago and Ageo Medics will meet top seed Toray on a rare Wednesday game, 12:00 PM (Manila time), at the Yokooji Sports Park Gymnasium in Kyoto.
