UST’s Barbon-Eslapor sink Ateneo, Adamson as La Salle, FEU keep pace

Defending women’s champions University of Santo Tomas, De La Salle University, and Far Eastern University ended the second day of UAAP Season 82 Women’s Beach Volleyball tied for the lead at the Sands SM By The Bay on Wednesday.

Last season’s top rookie Babylove Barbon and Gen Eslapor gave the Tigresses their third straight win with a 21-4, 21-8 romp of National University’s Andrea Abian and Chlea dela Fuente.

Not to be outdone were the Season 81 runner-up Lady Spikers, as Tin Tiamzon and Justine Jazareno swept University of the Philippines’ Rosie Rosier and Euri Eslapor, 21-19, 21-18. Meanwhile, the Lady Tamaraws’ Sheena Gallentes and Sheila Mae Kiseo needed three sets in beating Adamson University’s Kring Uy and Chen Ave, 21-13, 20-22, 15-5.

Like UST, De La Salle and FEU all sport 3-0 cards as the elimination round reaches the midway point.

Ateneo’s Ponggay Gaston and Roma Mae Doromal entered the win column with a 23-21, 21-11 conquest of University of the East’s Lyen Ritual and Juliet Catindig.

The Lady Eagles tied their victims and the Lady Falcons in fourth spot at 1-2. On the other hand, the Lady Bulldogs and the Lady Maroons remain winless in three matches.

Action resumes on Saturday with four matches starting at 10:40 a.m.
