TNT is in no rush to bring Roger Pogoy back into action even if the star guard’s recent tests have shown that he could return earlier than expected.
Both camps are eyeing for his reactivation in time for their December 25 encounter against long-time rivals Barangay Ginebra but it’s only a mere target.
“Tingnan namin sa December. Pero hindi naman kami nagmamadali,” Pogoy told reporters moments after the Tropang Giga’s loss to Meralco in the PBA Season 48 Commissioner’s Cup, Sunday at the Philsports Arena in Pasig.
As revealed by head coach Jojo Lastimosa last October, the 31-year-old was diagnosed with myocarditis and would be out for six months.
But recent tests by cardiologists have been promising, to the point that he could plunge back into action four months earlier than the supposed time away.
“‘Yung una MRI, pasado lahat. OK lahat,” said Pogoy, who missed Gilas’ stint in the Asian Games due to his condition. “Stress test ko, OK naman.”
The Cebuano star shared that he’s been doing physical activities recently as well, but he has yet to partake in 5-on-5 drills with the Tropang Giga.
“Nagshu-shooting na ‘ko. Jogging-jogging, takbo-takbo. Pero sumali sa 5-on-5, wala pa,” said Pogoy.
