Already crossing their fingers regarding Roger Pogoy’s injury, both TNT and Gilas are once again praying hard that one of their players is not seriously injured.
Poy Erram suffered an apparent lower back injury during the second quarter of TNT’s 93-96 loss to Magnolia on Friday evening at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.
With 4:00 minutes during the second quarter of the game, Erram tried to challenge a driving Mike Harris. But as he jumped, Kelly Williams also tried to swat away Harris’ attempt that resulted in a mid-air collision with his teammate.
The 6-foot-8 Erram crashed hard on the court. He tried to get back on defense in the next possession but asked to be subbed out during a deadball.
Erram, who ended up with five points and a block, had to be carried to the back by Carl Cruz and Glenn Khobuntin. He was rushed to Makati Medical Center.
Another possible Gilas candidate in Roger Pogoy is nursing a strained calf.
The Quezon City window of the 2023 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers takes place from February 24-28.
