TNC fell to a three-way tie at the top after suffering a monumental 2-0 upset at the hands of the cellar-dwelling Lilgun in the Dota Pro Circuit 2021: Season Two-Southeast Asia upper division, Saturday evening.
The loss put TNC in a tie with Southeast Asian powerhouse Fnatic and South Korean squad T1 at the pole position of the upper division with identical 4-2 records.
Lilgun carry Sukhbat “Sanctity-” Otgondavaa and midlaner Altanginj “x123” Bilguun joined hands in the tight 34-34 win over the Filipino powerhouse who is vying a spot for the second major of the DPC season.
The former tallied nine kills, two deaths, and 10 assists with his Antimage while the latter ended up with 11 kills, five deaths, and 13 assists with his Tiny in the match that lasted for 44 minutes and nine seconds.
Support Batbayasgalan “Ace12” Narankhand delivered a game-high 20 assists along with three kills and 10 deaths with Grimstroke.
On the other hand, TNC carry Kim “Gabbi” Villafuerte’s 14-6-7 stat line with Ursa went for naught as the Filipinos dropped a clash at the middle lane entering the 43-minute mark.
Come Game Two, Sanctity- sustained his fine form to finish off the huge upset in just 31 minutes and 36 seconds. The Lilgun carry dazzled with his Ember Spirit, putting up monster numbers of 14 minutes and 19 assists against just two deaths in the dominant 45-22 victory.
Ace12 also got things going with a game-high 25 assists laced with 10 kills and six deaths playing Grimstroke.
Meanwhile, Armel “Armel” Tabios was the lone bright spot for TNC with eight kills, six deaths, and five assists on his Tiny.
TNC will try and secure their spot in the Major against Fnatic on May 19 while Lilgun will cap off the season against Execration on the same day.
