2019 FIBA World Cup Qualifiers

Thirdy Ravena returns; Almazan, Thompson miss Gilas practice

Raymond Almazan was nowhere to be found in Gilas Pilipinas’ resumption of practices for the upcoming sixth window of the 2019 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers, Thursday at Meralco Gym.

Almazan has yet to return to Gilas’ practices since Monday; he also missed Tuesday’s sessions. The reason behind the Rain or Shine big man’s absences has yet to be identified.

Also absent was Scottie Thompson.

Taking part in the practice are Andray Blatche, Paul Lee, Gabe Norwood, Japeth Aguilar, Troy Rosario, Roger Pogoy, Mark Barroca, June Mar Fajardo, Marcio Lassiter, and Jayson Castro.

Center Poy Erram was present but clad in street clothes.

Also making his return after missing two days worth of sessions is Thirdy Ravena.

The Filipino dribblers now only have exactly two weeks left before facing Qatar – whom they beat here at home back in the Qualifiers’ fourth window – in Doha on February 21. Gilas then flies to Astana afterward to take on Kazakhstan in Astana.

Gilas, who are 5-5 in Group F, will fly to Qatar on the 16th.
