Ten Asia Cup players present; Andre Paras trains with Gilas


After finally seeing a complete line-up on Monday evening, the FIBA Asia Cup-bound Gilas team only had nine players present on Tuesday evening, as three-time PBA Most Valuable Player June Mar Fajardo and Jayson Castro sat out the session on the sidelines.

Actively participating for the Asia Cup team are Calvin Abueva, Gabe Norwood, Terrence Romeo, Raymond Almazan (arrived at 8:22pm), Christian Standhardinger, Carl Cruz, Roger Pogoy, Jiovani Jalalon, Matthew Wright (arrived at 8:38pm), and listed reserve Ed Daquioag. Only Japeth Aguilar was absent.

To even out the scrimmage, the team called on Kobe Paras’ brother Andre Paras to join in.

Coach Chot Reyes was not in attendance as he was celebrating his his 54th birthday. Assistant coach Josh Reyes presided over the practice.

The FIBA Asia Cup is set to begin in seven days.

For the Southeast Asian Games team, Bobby Ray Parks Jr., Almond Vosotros, Von Pessumal, Kevin Ferrer, Raymar Jose, Kiefer Ravena, Mike Tolomia, Fonzo Gotladera, and Kobe Paras held the other end of the Meralco Gym with coach Jong Uichico heading the drills.

Stand-by player Mac Belo was on the sidelines.
