Tai Bundit to miss AVC Women’s Cup after freak accident in Thailand

Alas Pilipinas head coach Tai Bundit is set to miss the 2026 AVC Women’s Volleyball Cup after being involved in a freak car accident in Thailand.

Philippine National Volleyball Federation president Anthony “Tony Boy” Liao shared the unfortunate development during a meeting with players included in the national team pool on Thursday.

Bundit, who was reportedly struck by a vehicle while on his way home from his restaurant, sustained an open medial malleolus fracture and is expected to be sidelined for the next two to three months, covering a significant portion of the national team window.

The PNVF has yet to determine who will take over in Bundit’s absence.

The AVC Women’s Volleyball Cup is scheduled from June 6 to 14, with Alas Pilipinas looking to improve on its silver-medal finish in the previous edition and finally capture the gold medal.
