Tai Bundit to miss AVC Women’s Cup after freak accident in Thailand

Alas Pilipinas head coach Tai Bundit will miss the 2026 AVC Women’s Volleyball Cup after being involved in a freak car accident in Thailand.

Philippine National Volleyball Federation president Anthony “Tony Boy” Liao shared the unfortunate development during a meeting with players included in the national team pool on Thursday.

Bundit, who was reportedly struck by a vehicle while on his way home from his restaurant, sustained an open medial malleolus fracture. He is expected to be sidelined for the next two to three months, covering a significant portion of the national team window.

The PNVF has yet to determine who will take over in Bundit’s absence.

The AVC Women’s Volleyball Cup is scheduled from June 6 to 14, with Alas Pilipinas looking to improve on its silver-medal finish in the previous edition and finally capture the gold medal.
