The woes of Caelan Tiongson and Taoyuan continued Saturday evening, suffering a crushing 104-125 defeat at the hands of New Taipei in the 2021-22 T1 League season at Xinzhuang Gymnasium.

Tiongson was held down to just seven points on 3-of-15 shooting from the field with nine rebounds. The 6-foot-5 Filipino-American bruiser is averaging just 5.3 points on a combined 6-of-34 shooting over the last three games.

The Leopards had no answers for the CTBC DEA all through the contest.

New Taipei raced to an early 20-9 lead that paved the way for a 31-21 start and never looked back.

The CTBC DEA lead would balloon to as high as 32 points, 113-81, after back-to-back conversions by Lin Pengsheng and Cleanthony Early.

All in all, CTBC DEA, who went up to 7-4 in the standings to take solo second, knocked down a league-record 21 treys.

Early led the way for New Taipei with 36 points and 15 rebounds.

Mohammad Al Bachir Gadiaga got 22 points built on four treys with nine rebounds while Hsieh Yahsuan fired four treys, ending up with 18 points. Lin and Marlon Johnson also added 13 and 11 points, respectively.

The Leopards suffered their seventh straight loss to fall to 1-9 in the standings.

John Gillon paced Taoyuan with 29 points while Troy Williams got 24 points and 13 rebounds.

Cheng Wei chipped in 14 points while Deyonta Davis tallied a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.

Tiongson and Taoyuan will next face TaiwanBeer on January 29 at Chung Yuan Christian University Gymnasium.
