Just 11 days before his much-anticipated return to the ring, Manny Pacquiao will have to re-strategize his game plan.
Reigning IBF and WBC world welterweight champion Errol Spence has withdrawn from his fight with Pacquiao after tearing the retina in his left eye, Premier Boxing Champions announced.
The statement did not bare how Spence sustained the injury.
“I pray for a full and complete recovery for Errol Spence Jr,” said Pacquiao.
The bout was supposed to take place on August 22 (Manila time) in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Pacquiao’s new opponent is Yordenis Ugás, a 35-year-old Cuban who owns a 26–4 record.
The bout will still take place on the same day with only Ugas’ WBA welterweight belt at stake.
