Smart Omega continues strong start in MPL PH, sweeps Blacklist

Smart Omega continued their impressive start, securing their third win with a 2-0 sweep of Blacklist International in Week 2 of MPL Philippines Season 14 on Friday at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati City.

Omega now leads the league with a perfect 3-0 record, including two sweeps, to claim sole possession of first place.

Despite the win streak, Lemuel Josh “Lembot” Lucban is not yet satisfied with the team’s performance and feels they can still reach a higher level.

“Meron pa rin room for improvement. Di pa siya perfect,” explained the coach.

Star roamer Joshua “Ch4knu” Mangilog added that the team’s current run is thanks to their preparation and the chemistry built during last season’s late push for the playoffs.

“Siguro naging swak din kami dahil sa mga naging preparations namin tapos yung chemistry namin,” he said.

Omega dominated the early stages of Game 1, building a 3k net worth lead until Blacklist’s Dexter “Exort” Martinez (Valentina) stole the lord in the 10th minute to equalize.

However, Andrew “Andoryuuu” Flora delivered a near-perfect performance on Bane, achieving an 8-1-2 KDA to spearhead Omega’s 18-minute victory in the opener.

Game 2 was a one-sided affair as Jayson “U K I R” Alupit (Aurora) finished with a flawless 3-0-4 KDA, leading a dominant 9-1 demolition on the kill score during a swift 11-minute victory.

Blacklist remains winless and is currently in seventh place with a 0-3 record.

Omega will next face Aurora on Sunday, August 25, in a battle of early-season leaders.
