Smart Omega continues strong run, keeps RSG skidding in MPL PH

By: Jan Marcus Montevirgen

Smart Omega handed RSG Philippines their fifth loss in the first half of the MPL Philippines Season 14 regular season, sweeping them 2-0 on Saturday at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati.

With the win, Smart Omega now holds a 4-2 record, while RSG Philippines falls to 2-5.

“Feeling ko hindi pa rin kami pwedeng magpabaya kase ang lalakas talaga ng mga PH teams. Tapos yung grade ko sa team, siguro nasa 8.5, kase sobrang marami pang pwedeng i-improve,” said Coach Lemuel “Lembot” Lucban during the post-match interview.

Joshua “Ch4knu” surprised RSG with a Gatotkaca pick throughout the series, providing space for his teammates to make effective plays in every teamfight.

In Game 1, Omega narrowly escaped RSG when Ch4knu initiated a teamfight during the 13th-minute Lord push in the bottom lane.

Although RSG won the fight with a 3-2 trade, Omega managed to finish the game moments later with Jomari “Jowm” Pingol (Moskov) focusing on the turret.

Jowm finished the first game with a flawless one kill and five assists, while Ch4knu had one kill, five assists, and four deaths.

In Game 2, RSG had no answer for Andrew “Andoryuuu” Flora’s Julian, who was pivotal in most skirmishes.

Andoryuuu was named match MVP, finishing with seven kills, six assists, and one death in a 13-minute game with a 15-9 kill score.

Smart Omega will next face Team Liquid Philippines on Sunday at 7:30 PM. Meanwhile, RSG Philippines will go up against TNC Pro Team on September 15 at 5:00 PM.

Both matches will be held at the same Makati venue.
