Sisi Rondina picks Marinerang Pilipina apart as Petron remains perfect

Sisi Rondina picked apart Marinerang Pilipina, fueling the Petron Blaze Spikers en route to their third straight victory, 25-17, 25-18, 25-13, in the 2019 PSL Invitationals at the Sta. Rosa Multi-Purpose Sports Complex, Tuesday.

Rondina wounded up with 18 points built on 17 attacks and a kill block. The former UST Golden Tigress also had 14 excellent digs in the straight-set beating that lasted 79 minutes.

The troika of Remy Palma, Chloe Cortez, and Chin Basas contributed seven markers each, playing instrumental roles in the victory.

Palma and Cortez paced Petron with their steady service performances. The former nailed three aces, while the latter pummeled two. Meanwhile, Basas dealt damage with her six attacks, including the lethal hammer that she dropped in the decisive fifth frame to complete the sweep.

Petron setter Angel Legacion continued to deliver the goods in lieu of the injured Rhea Dimaculangan. She distributed 18 excellent sets to power the offense for the Blaze Spikers, who stamped their class in the attacking department with a 45-22 differential.

The Lady Skippers, on the other hand, couldn’t crack into the win column even after three matches.

Caitlyn Viray spearheaded Marinerang Pilipina on offense with seven points. Nica Gulliman managed six markers, while Judith Abil was limited to just five points.

Petron will try to keep their record pristine in a rematch against Marinerang Pilipina on Thursday, October 10, at the Malolos Sports and Convention Center. But before the Lady Skippers set their sights on payback, they will have to go through another undefeated team in the Cignal HD Spikers on Tuesday, October 8, at the Bacoor Strike Gym.
