SIBOL ML exits China tourney after losses to Cambodia, China

NANNING, CHINA – SIBOL’s all-female Mobile Legends: Bang Bang squad bowed out of contention after dropping their best-of-one matches against Cambodia and China, respectively, in Group A of the China-ASEAN Esports Competition 2024 at the Howard Johnson CAEXPO Plaza here.

The Philippines kick-started the tournament on the wrong foot after getting dominated by Cambodia, which is composed of players from MPL squad CFU Gaming.

Cambodia went on a tear in the early goings of the match, securing kills all over the map in the first three minutes of the game which set the tone for their total domination that saw them finish the game with a kill line of 13-1 in just less than 10 minutes of action.

Gwen “Ayanami” Diagon (Lapu-Lapu) was the sole player who got a kill in the quick match, taking down the Yu Zhong at the top lane in the first six minutes. Unfortunately, the team failed to build on that en route to the tough loss.

SIBOL’s last hope fell in its final group stage assignment against China, but the Filipinas failed to recover from their opening loss against Cambodia, leading to another lopsided loss which booted them out of the tournament.

The host nation swiftly dispatched the Philippines, taking a 10-1 victory in just 10 minutes and 22 seconds of action.
