Shinshu continues to release its players after being demoted back to B.League Division II.
RJ Abarrientos is the most recent release by the Brave Warriors, the team announced on Wednesday.
Abarrientos, 24, is now a free agent.
Despite his release, he is grateful for the year he spent with Shinshu.
“Shinshu Brave Warriors fans, it’s been an incredible year playing for you all. I felt loved and supported by you every minute I was on the court,” he said. “I have to say goodbye for now, but maybe we can meet again sooner or later. I want to thank every fan and booster for supporting me and the team throughout the whole season.”
Abarrientos spent his first year as a pro in the KBL with Ulsan Hyundai Mobis.
During his only year with the Phoebus, he averaged 13.29 points on 34.4 percent shooting from deep, with 4.77 assists, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.34 steals in 56 games played.
After being released by Ulsan Hyundai, the spitfire 5-foot-11 guard signed with the Brave Warriors. However, Abarrientos’ numbers dipped in Shinshu, where he averaged just 7.82 points, 2.33 assists, and 1.69 rebounds in 49 games played.
Abarrientos will play for Strong Group in the 43rd William Jones Cup.
