The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas has recently launched the SBP Coaches’ Clinic — a camp made with the province-based coaches in mind.
The Coaches’ Clinic is a brainchild of SBP and Gilas Pilipinas head coach Chot Reyes and is backed by Smart. Aiming to share the technology taught in Manila, the team’s staff pooled together to spread their knowledge to aspiring coaches in the country.
The camp is led by Gilas Cadets coach and multi-titled mentor Jong Uichico, along with 3×3 coach Mark Solano and Gilas Elite assistant Jem Ryn Betia.
“Majority of the coaching clinics are here in Manila. So for the coaches based in the provinces, it’s costly. And obviously, malayo,” said Betia.
“So what SBP did is that imbes na sila ang pumunta sa clinics, ang clinics ang pupunta sa kanila.”
The camp has already commenced last April 14-15 in Cavite, and will head next to Palawan on April 21-22; Iloilo on April 28-29; and Cagayan De Oro on May 5-6.
The clinic will then return to Luzon on May 8-9 in Pangasinan; on May 12-13 in Parañaque; and on June 2-3 in Naga City in Bicol.
The conclusion of the camp will be on June 16-17 in General Santos City.
