For its first event this 2016, Saved by the Bell Boxing Promotions’ Elmer Anuran promises a night of action in tomorrow’s “Laban Pinoy” card.
Headlined by the country’s number one and number two ranked 135-pounders, ALA’s Arjan Canillas (13-2, 10KOs) and Roberto Gonzales (26-2, 16KOs) of Touch Gloves Boxing will slug it out for the vacant Games and Amusements Board (GAB) lightweight crown.
Anuran believes it will be a big step for the twently-five-year old pugilist from Romblon, and will serve as gauge to see if he deserves to be in the world rankings. “Nakita naman natin yung sipag niya (Gonzales) at dedikasyon sa larangang ito, kumbaga sa part namin at sa part ko personally, pinibigay ko lang yung pagkakataon sa kanya.”
“So kunsaka-sakaling malagpasan ni Robert ‘tong test na ito, I consider this event as a big test for Gonzales for me to know if he is really worthy. Yun yung objective ko kaya ko ginawa tong laban na ito.” He said during the press conference held today at the Edsa Shangri-La Hotel in Mandaluyong City, “After this with the win, we’ll probably put him into the rankings.”
In the co-main event, former world title challenger Bernabe Concepcion (34-6-2, 20KOs) will defend his WBO Oriental superbantamweight belt against Jimmy Paypa (17-3-1, 6KOs)
Saved by the Bell Promotion’s “Laban Pinoy” will be held this Saturday, March 12, 2016, at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City. Preliminaries will start at 6pm.
