ECHO is on the verge of another historic feat after securing a tight win over TNC in the fourth week of MPL Philippines Season 12 on Saturday night.
The win allowed the reigning champion to tie Blacklist International’s 11-game winning streak in Season 8 – the longest in league history. Now, they have the chance to surpass it tomorrow when they take on RSG PH at 6:30 p.m.
However, that is the least of Alston “Sanji” Pabico’s worries, as he is dead-set on leading ECHO to an upper bracket slot in the Season 12 playoffs.
“Sobrang saya din pero ‘di ko kasi yun iniisip eh, mas iniisip ko yung mag-upper bracket kami saka top one para sa playoffs may advantage kami,” said Sanji, who starred in ECHO’s reverse 2-1 sweep of TNC at the Shooting Gallery Studios.
ECHO, though, could hit two birds with one stone, as a win versus the Raiders will get them up to 30 points, which is already enough to secure one of the two upper bracket slots.
Sanji tallied four kills and 13 assists against three deaths on Valentina in Game 2 before capping the series with a perfect 3-0-14 line on the same hero in the series-clinching Game 3 victory.
While breaking Blacklist International’s record is not one of their main goals at the moment, ECHO technical coach Robert “Trebor” Sanchez is elated about the possibility of etching their names in MPL PH history.
“Siguro sobrang saya namin kasi bihira lang yung pagkakataon na malagpasan yung mga titles. Kaya ayun, sobrang saya ng team kung makuha namin yun bukas,” said Trebor.
