Despite starting their MPL Philippines Season 16 playoff run from the lower bracket, Team Liquid Philippines EXP laner Sanford “Sanford” Vinuya remains confident that his team has what it takes to go the distance.
In an exclusive interview with Tiebreaker Times, Sanford shared that even after missing out on the upper bracket, Team Liquid’s confidence remains intact — backed by experience from their MSC trophy run and strengthened by lessons in discipline.
“Andun pa rin naman yung buong kumpiyansa, like 100-percent confident pa rin kami,” he said.
“Minsan napapaisip lang, what if kami yung andun (upper bracket), pero buong-buo naman na kakayanin namin.”
Sanford admitted that discipline was one of their main struggles during the regular season, a factor that led to several costly losses. This time, however, they are focusing on maintaining composure, refining their drafts, and reading their opponents better.
“Dun sa series kasi na yun (vs Team Falcons) parang kami lang din nagpatalo sa sarili samin, though maganda talaga yung ginawa nila commendable yung mga plays na ginawa nila but mayroong instances na talagang nag-overheat kami tulad ng game 1,” he said.
“Sobrang laking bagay talaga ng disiplina sa laro. Pinaka malaking factor talaga is disiplina namin as a team.”
Despite a tough road ahead, Sanford assured that the Cavalry is ready to switch into playoff mode and fight through the lower bracket.
“Mainit pa kami galing MSC, at buong buo pa rin ang kumpiyansa namin,” he said.
“Makikita nila yung TLPH na playoffs mode.”
