Samboy Lim, 61, passes away

Philippine basketball is mourning the passing of Samboy “The Skywalker” Lim on December 23, 2023.

He was 61.

The iconic figure not only left an indelible mark on the court but also in the hearts of those who admired his virtues of faith, courage, humility, and grace.

Surrounded by loved ones at the Medical City during his final moments, Lim received tender care from family and friends, including notable figures Allan Caidic and Robert Evangelista.

Father Franklin Beltran administered the Last Rites, offering a spiritual farewell.

Meanwhile, the outpouring of support from Samboy’s medical team, family, and friends over the past nine years was acknowledged with heartfelt gratitude.

A nine-time PBA champion, three-time NCAA champion with Letran, and a former NCAA MVP, Samboy Lim’s legacy extends far beyond his on-court accomplishments.

He has been in a coma since November 2014.

His contributions to the world of basketball will forever be remembered, and he leaves behind a legacy of inspiration that transcends the game.

He is survived by his wife Lelen and daughter Jamie.
