Filipino prized fighters Rolando Dy and Jenel Lausa suffered crushing defeats on Saturday evening during the preliminary card of UFC Fight Night 132 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Second-generation fighter Dy had an excellent start in his featherweight bout against Shane Young. But Young was able to bloody Dy up during the opening round.
Young then turned it up in the second round, landing a thunderous right elbow that knocked Dy down. He followed it up by raining on punches that called for a stoppage with 20 seconds left in the second round.
With the loss, Dy falls to 9-7-1. His sole win in his last four fights came against Wuliji Buren last November, where he picked up a unanimous decision victory.
Lausa, a former flyweight champion in regional promotion Pacific Xtreme Combat, was thoroughly broken down on the ground by Japanese grappler Ulka Sasaki.
Sasaki was outclassed in two rounds before the Japanese fighter slapped a rear naked choke with four minutes remaining in the second round for the win. The stoppage came at the 4:04 mark of the bout.
This is Lausa’s third straight loss in the promotion, dropping to 7-5.
Lausa won his debut back in November of 2016 with a unanimous decision win over Yao Zhikui. He then suffered back-to-back UD losses at the hands of Magomed Bibulatov back in April, 2017 and Eric Shelton last November.
