REPORTS: Christian Standhardinger signs with HK Eastern Long Lions

The rich get richer in the ASEAN Basketball League as reigning champions Hong Kong Eastern Long Lions have tapped Filipino-German Christian Standhardinger as their ASEAN Heritage import for the 2017-18 season.

Standhardinger’s agency You First Basket first announced the news last August 13 in a tweet.

German basketball website basketball.de later confirmed the news.

Standhardinger, 28, averaged 11.8 points and 7.4 rebounds in nine games during his Gilas debut during the 2017 Jones Cup. The 6-foot-8 big man then raised his norms to 15.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in the on-going FIBA Asia Cup.

The Eastern Long Lions won their regular series match-up against Alab Pilipinas, 3-1, with the Philippine-side only winning the final game of the series, 82-75, last March 19.

Hong Kong will still have ASEAN Heritage MVP Tyler Lamb and World Import MVP Marcus Elliott in their title defense bid.
