Remy Martin and Kansas bucked a gallant stand by Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks, taking an 80-72 win, Sunday (Manila time) at the Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, Kansas.
Up by just three, 73-70, with 34 seconds left, the Filipino-American guard fired a booming triple to avert a heist on their home floor.
Though the Lumberjacks were able to get two back on the other end, Dajuan Harris iced the game with two free throws.
Martin got 15 points, six rebounds, and four assists, steering the Jayhawks to a 9-1 record.
Christian Braun led the way for Kansas with 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the field. Ochai Agbaji added 18 points.
The Lumberjacks, who fell to 8-4, was led by the 18 points of David Kachelries. Gavin Kensmil also posted an all-around line of 16 points, 12 rebounds, and seven assists.
Kansas will next face Harvard on December 30.
