Ray Parks checked by Shimane as Nagoya streak snapped in B.League

Ray Parks and Nagoya could not repeat against Shimane, bowing 86-94 in the 2021-22 B.League Division I tournament, Sunday at Dolphin’s Arena.

Unlike their stunning upset yesterday, the third quarter doomed the Diamond Dolphins.

Reid Travis took over in the third canto, scoring 15 of his 25 points to give the Susanoo Magic a 66-60 edge heading into the final frame.

The defense of the Diamond Dolphins broke down in the final frame, allowing their visitors to grab hold of a 90-77 lead late in the contest.

Travis also grabbed 13 rebounds, towing Shimane to an 11-5 record.

Perrin Buford also had 21 points on 18 attempts with seven rebounds. Seiya Ando added 17 points and seven assists while Kosuke Kanamaru chipped in 10 points.

Nagoya, who dropped to 9-7, was led by Takumi Saito, who had 24 points.

Parks, who was outstanding yesterday, was limited to just 13 points on 4-of-9 shooting with three assists, two steals, and two rebounds while Scott Eatherton added 17 points and 10 rebounds.

In his second game with the Diamond Dolphins, former PBA import Rob Dozier only had five points and two rebounds in 14 minutes of action.

Nagoya will head to Kyoto next weekend.
