In a contract deadlock, Rain or Shine has decided to move on from Javee Mocon.
The Elasto Painters is set to trade Javee Mocon to Phoenix Super LPG in exchange for Nick Demusis, their 2023 PBA draft first round pick, and 2024 second round pick.
The trade is still pending league approval.
The development was first reported by SPIN.ph’s Snow Badua and confirmed by Rain or Shine consultant Caloy Garcia. Meanwhile, the trade pieces were confirmed to Tiebreaker Times by multiple sources closely monitoring the situation.
Mocon, 27, was drafted by the Elasto Painters as the sixth overall pick in the 2018 PBA Rookie Draft.
The 6-foot-3 product of San Beda made the All-Rookie Team in his first year.
In his third year, Mocon became one of the main men of the Elasto Painters, averaging 12.46 points, 8.08 rebounds, 3.69 assists, and 1.31 steals in the Philippine Cup and 11.09 points, 6.82 rebounds, 3.09 assists, and 1.0 steals in the Governors’ Cup.
However, Mocon and Rain or Shine could not come to terms during their extension talks.
Demusis was the 18th overall pick in the 2021 PBA Draft.
The 31-year-old product of Whittier played 23 games for Phoenix last season.
