PZLS: Animam double-double not enough as Radnicki falls to Vrbas

Jack Animam’s double-double was not enough to lift Radnički past Vrbas in the 2021-22 First Women’s Basketball League of Serbia season, falling 54-60, Saturday (Manila time) at the SBB Hala Jezero.

Animam had 13 points on 6-of-10 shooting with 11 rebounds. She also committed four turnovers.

Slow was the start of Radnički, putting up just seven points in the opening frame with Animam scoring four. On the other end, the red shirts gave up 18 points.

Behind Animam and Marija Stojanović, Radnički rallied back in the third canto, eventually gaining a 37-34 lead midway through the quarter and ending the quarter just behind by four, 41-45.

Their early woes though came back in the final frame, as Radnički scored just 13 points in the final frame while Vrbas went on a 6-0 endgame rally to score the victory.

Milena Laković tallied a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds while Nataša Mijatović and Jelena Jozić had 10 points each.

Milica Inđić paced Radnicki with 16 points, seven rebounds, and five assists.

Radnicki went down to an even 4-4 slate for sixth place in the 12-team field while Vrbas went up to 3-5.

Radnicki will next face Partizan 1953 on Saturday.
