PVL: F2 Logistics down embattled Gerflor for first win streak

F2 Logistics thumped the embattled Gerflor, 25-10, 25-16, 25-14, for its second consecutive victory in the Premier Volleyball League Second All-Filipino Conference at the Philsports Arena on Thursday.

Coming off a tight five-set win over Farm Fresh, the Cargo Movers dominated the Defenders, who were currently dealing with internal problems, and rose to a tie for the sixth spot with Cignal via identical 4-2 records.

“Syempre, it’s a good boost for the team para sa next game with the defending champions but sinabi ko nga sa kanila na this is a good preparation para sa next game and we cannot be complacent,” said F2 Logistics head coach Regine Diego.

“Lastly, kailangan respetuhin talaga yung kalaban hindi yung depende sa katapat mo yung gagalawin mo, dapat dire-diretso. So sinabi ko sa kanila na kapag sila nadikitan ng sobrang dikit na dikit, ibig sabihin ‘di nila nirerespeto yung kalaban,” added Diego.

After breezing through the first two sets, F2 Logistics took it up a notch in the third frame with Jolina Dela Cruz, Jovelyn Fernandez, and Mars Alba conniving to put up a 14-point, 21-7 advantage that took the fight out of the Defenders.

“Sa lahat ng teams, kung kaya naman namin sa ibang teams na lumayo sa score, hindi lang sa Gerflor pati rin sa ibang teams, basta lumayo yung score I want to see how others will perform din kasi syempre they’re part of the team din,” said Diego.

Ara Galang paced the Cargo Movers with 11 points, including three blocks, to go along with 11 excellent digs and three excellent receptions after an hour and 19 minutes of play.

Aby Marano added 10 points on six attacks, two blocks, and two rejections while Ivy Lacsina also had 10 points on 10 attacks.

Alba tossed 14 excellent sets while Macandili registered 12 excellent digs.

F2 Logistics will go up against defending champion Creamline next on Tuesday, 6:00 p.m. at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

On the other hand, the Defenders, who are currently under investigation due to the management’s mismanagement of the team, were led by Danika Gendrauli with 11 points on nine attacks and two aces.

Gerflor has now suffered its sixth consecutive loss in as many games.

The Defenders will face Farm Fresh earlier on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m.
