Andy Gemao and Letran Farm Fresh went off for a resounding 83-65 victory over Mapua 521 Trading last Sunday, setting the tone for their campaign in the Manila Bankers Life-Pilipinas Super League Under-18 NCR Leg at the Central Recreational Facility in New Era, Quezon City.
Gemao got eight points – highlighted by a thunderous jam – and six rebounds in 19 minutes of play.
Daniel Padilla contributed 14 points for the Milkers, while Basti Reyes, a member of Gilas Pilipinas Youth Under-16, added 13 points and five rebounds.
Syrex Silorio also chipped in with 12 points and two rebounds. Letran Farm Fresh, bolstered by the core of the reigning NCAA juniors’ champions Squires, got off to an impressive start in the tournament co-presented by SCD and Dumper party-list, and supported by J Project Clothings, MDC, Bluesky Advertising, NET 25, Wcube Solutions Inc., Hotel SOGO, and Converge.
In another game, NBS Kris convincingly defeated Magnificent Manila 87-68, announcing their campaign in emphatic fashion.
NBS Kris relied on the trio of University of the East’s Vhon Roldan (19 points and nine rebounds), Jaymark Lloren (14), and Jiro Mecha (12) to secure the commanding victory.
In the Luzon Leg matches, Luid Kapampangan prevailed over Bagong Cabuyao with a score of 79-72, while Pampanga Delta dismantled Calamba City with a dominant 91-66 win.
In the Visayas Leg held at the Cebu City Sports Institute, Sherilin Khalifa City of Naga overwhelmed Datu Omendig 76-59. Meanwhile, the Consolacion Sarok Weavers defeated the Consolacion Black Shama 81-72.
