The complexion of the 2023 PBA Rookie Draft has changed.
Stephen Holt is entering the upcoming draft with his requirements being submitted to the league’s office early this week.
Easily, Holt, 31, is the most experienced among the draftees.
Standing at 6-foot-4, the Portland-born player competed for Cleveland’s G League affiliate, Canton, from 2014 to 15.
He then embarked on a journeyman career, playing in Australia, Spain, Poland, Kazakhstan, Slovenia, and Romania.
Holt was named to the All-NBL Second Team back in 2016.
Coach Cris Gopez of Fil-Am Nation Select assisted Holt in securing his necessary documents. EMBM is the official manager of Holt here in the Philippines.
Meanwhile, University of the Philippines forward Zavier Lucero and De La Salle University guard Deschon Winston have also submitted their draft requirements.
Lucero played a pivotal role in UP’s triumph in UAAP Season 84, while Winston helped La Salle reach the Final Four in Season 85.
Also entering the draft are Luis Villegas, Brandon Bates, and Keith Datu.
All three previously participated in PBA 3×3.
Villegas, however, is still recovering from an ACL tear he sustained last March.
Henry Galinato, Lucero’s good pal in UP has also joined the draft.
Without a doubt, the event scheduled for September 17 at Market! Market! is shaping up to be a draft for the ages.
