PNVF seeks clarity, eyes resolution after FIVB sanction

The Philippine National Volleyball Federation on Sunday said it is prepared to work with all concerned parties following its suspension by the International Volleyball Federation on Saturday.

The FIVB imposed the suspension “with immediate effect” after citing allegations of serious governance concerns and violations of the FIVB Code of Ethics.

The development comes amid ongoing issues involving the Philippine Sports Commission’s withdrawal of support and the Philippine Olympic Committee’s move to enforce the suspension.

As it continues to assess the situation, the federation said its priority is to work with all stakeholders while safeguarding the country’s participation in international competitions.

“PNVF’s immediate priority is to serve the Filipino athlete, preserve the country’s participation in international volleyball, and ensure continuity for the sport,” the federation said.

The PNVF added that it intends to seek clarification on the concerns raised by the FIVB and gain a better understanding of the process moving forward. That then would help it determine the suspension’s implications for Philippine volleyball.

“The Federation respects the important roles of FIVB, PSC, POC, and all relevant institutions in Philippine and international sport, and is prepared to engage constructively through the proper channels,” the statement read.

“Given the seriousness of the matter, PNVF will seek a full understanding of the issues raised, the process moving forward, and the operational implications for Philippine volleyball.”

The federation said it will provide further updates as appropriate.

The PSC was the first to sanction the PNVF, freezing its funding over several alleged violations, including lapses in national team participation commitments and failure to comply with logo visibility requirements during its hosting of the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Nuvali Challenge.

Following the FIVB suspension, the POC also moved to comply with the international governing body’s directive.
