Petecio, Paalam, Marcial also given Tagaytay property by POC prexy

It’s not just Hidilyn Diaz who will receive a house and lot from Philippine Olympic Committee president Bambol Tolentino.

The incumbent congressman out of the eighth district of Cavite has also pledged to give silver medalists Carlo Paalam and Nesthy Petecio; and bronze medalist Eumir Marcial the same property on Sunday.

“The two silvers and one bronze, bibigyan ko na rin ng pabahay para puwede nila bigay sa kamag-anak nila,” quipped the amiable sportsman.

Originally, the Tagaytay property is only given to gold medalists, but the inspirational effort of the three pugilists could not go unnoticed by Tolentino, who was with the team in Japan.

Paalam only succumbed in the men’s flyweight final against Great Britain’s Galal Yafai; Petecio could not overcome hometown bet Sena Irie in the women’s featherweight title bout; while Marcial was overwhelmed by Ukrainian punching machine Oleksandr Khyzhniak in the middleweight semis.

Delighted were Marcial and Paalam after hearing the reward, saying that it will definitely help their respective families.

“Napawisan ako bigla.

“Grabe po ‘yong blessing at sobrang thankful kami sa Panginoon na may may ginamit Siyang tao para po makatulong sa amin at magbigay ng inspiration sa amin,” expressed Marcial about Tolentino.

“Sobrang saya namin, bigla akong napawisan ah,” said Paalam smiling.
