PMNVT, Thailand in separate groups; Singapore joins SEAG women’s tourney

The Philippine Men’s National Volleyball Team learned its fate in the upcoming 2019 Southeast Asian Games, Tuesday.

The Nationals have been slotted with Indonesia, Cambodia, and Vietnam in Group B of the competition that will take place from November 28 to December 10, 2019.

Powerhouse squads Thailand and Myanmar headline Group A, together with Singapore and Timor Leste.

The Philippines ended 0-2 in the group stages back in 2017, which was won by Thailand.

For the women’s side, Singapore was announced as the fifth nation. They join the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam.

The format of the tournament will be single round robin with the top two teams competing for gold, while the third and fourth-ranked squads battle for bronze.

The Philippines made it to the semis back in 2017 before being swept by eventual-champion Thailand.
