PJ Ramos returns with a vengeance as Alab Pilipinas routs Zhuhai

After missing their last game against Hong Kong, PJ Ramos was a man on a mission, Friday evening.

With San Miguel Alab Pilipinas coming off an 83-88 loss, Ramos made sure they wouldn’t slip twice. The Puerto Rican towed the defending champions to a 105-79 win over the Zhuhai Wolf Warriors at the Doumen Gymnasium in Zhuhai, China.

Besides going up to 13-3, Alab are assured of winning their season series against Zhuhai, as they have a 3-0 against them. Alab first defeated Zhuhai back on January 6 with a 105-95 in Cebu. The Philippine side then followed it up with a 100-81 road win last January 29 in Zhuhai.

The two squads face off for one last time this season on Sunday, at the Sta. Rosa Multi Purpose Sports Complex in Laguna.

It was Alab’s big three of Ramos, Renaldo Balkman, and Bobby Ray Parks, Jr. who blew the game wide open. Leading by just a solitary point midway through the second stanza, Alab went on a 19-5 run to leave Zhuhai in the dust.

Ramos, who is still recovering from food poisoning, scattered 15 points, 14 rebounds, and 11 assists in the game. Balkman added 19 points, five rebounds, five assists, and two steals, while Parks had 15 points as well.

Alab continued to pounce on the league’s cellar-dwellers, who dropped to 2-15. They led by as much as 31 points, 103-72, with four minutes left in the game.

Caelan Tiongson and Brandon Rosser had 10 points each with the latter also grabbing eight boards.

Mike Bell and Cory Bradford were the sole bright spots for Zhuhai, finishing with 22 and 17 markers respectively.
