Phoenix Accelerators star forward Mark Belo will serve a one-game suspension and will have to pay a fine of 5000 pesos, as per the ruling of the PBA’s Commissioner’s Office.
In a Tweet posted by the league’s official account, @PBAD-League, the UAAP Season 78 Finals MVP will face these consequences after having hit BluStar’s Ting Chun Hong with an elbow in the face during their match last June 16.
Phoenix were able to come out victorious in that tight affair, 97-94.
The Accelerators’ assistant coach Ryan Betia insisted that the elbow was an inadvertent act. “Aksidente lang yun. Kilala naman natin si Mac, ‘di siya ganun,” said Betia through a phone call.
With the suspension handed down by the League’s office, Phoenix will be facing Topstar Z.C. Mindanao Aguilas on Monday, June 27, without Belo.
