Phoenix ships Fortuna to Globalport for 2018 second rounder

Phoenix Petroleum completed a trade with Globalport Monday, sending back-up point guard Jeric Fortuna to the Batang Pier in exchange for a 2018 second-round pick.

Fortuna, Barako Bull’s 14th overall pick in the 2013 PBA draft, has career averages of 5 PPG, 1.7 RPG, and 1.3 APG.

He has played in only two of the Fuel Masters’ three matches in the current PBA Commissioner’s Cup, norming 2 PPG and 2.5 APG in 8.5 minutes of play per outing.

The deal sees Fortuna reunite with Globalport head coach Pido Jarencio, his mentor back in his collegiate days for the UST Growling Tigers.

Cracking the regular rotation, however, remains to be seen for Fortuna as he will be competing for minutes in a loaded backcourt with the likes of Terrence Romeo, Stanley Pringle, Jonathan Uyloan, Roi Sumang, Joseph Yeo, and Paolo Taha.
