The Philippines settled for silver after absorbing a lopsided 8–15, 4–15 defeat to Vietnam in the women’s double sepaktakraw final of the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 on Tuesday at the Nagoya City Mizuno Park Gymnasium.
The Nationals tried to navigate through Vietnam’s defense but struggled with errors on their attacks and returns.
The Philippines managed to keep the opening set close, capitalizing on points from their serves.
However, the deficit proved too much to overcome as Vietnam took the first set.
From there, it was all Vietnam, as the reigning world champions in the event never gave the Philippines an opportunity to mount a comeback and secured the Asian Games gold.
Still, the result marked a historic achievement for the Philippines, with Jean Marie Sucalit, Abegail Sinogbuhan, and Nelly Salon securing the country’s first-ever silver medal in sepaktakraw at the Asian Games.
