The Philippines assured itself of at least a silver medal in sepaktakraw after sweeping the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, 15–12, 15–10, in the women’s doubles semifinals of the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 on Monday at the Nagoya City Mizuno Park Gymnasium.
Jean Marie Sucalit and Abigail Sinogbuhan also secured the country’s best-ever finish in the sport at the Asian Games after the Philippines settled for bronze medals in the previous editions.
The duo, along with reserve Nelly Salon, moved one win away from giving the country its first-ever Asian Games sepaktakraw title, with familiar foe Vietnam standing in their way.
The gold medal match is set for Tuesday at 8:00 AM Philippine time.

The men’s regu side nearly duplicated the feat hours later but squandered a first-set advantage, falling to Malaysia, 15–10, 11–15, 7–15, in their own semifinal.
Jason Huerte, Jom Lerry Rafael, Reynaldo Asilum Jr., Glindel Phori, and Ronsited Gabayeron nonetheless secured the Philippines’ 10th bronze medal and its first sepaktakraw medal at the Games.
