Philippines to add six new players for AVC Cup

The Philippine Women’s National Volleyball Team will have to incorporate six new players from their Asian Games roster for the 6th AVC Women’s Seniors Cup in Thailand from September 17 to 23.

Dawn Macandili, Majoy Baron, and Kianna Dy will join the De La Salle University Lady Spikers in a New York trip on the same dates; Jaja Santiago and Dindin Santiago-Manabat will be in Japan to compete in the V-Premiere League with their yet-to-be-disclosed club teams; Kim Fajardo will sit out to rest a swollen right knee.

According to assistant coach Kungfu Reyes, the team needs to add players from the 20-woman pool and new players as well.

“‘Yung mga isasali namin dito sa Thailand, considered na rin sa pool for SEA Games,” said Reyes as the Philippines is set to host the biennial meet in 2019.

Reyes adds that they are looking to fill every position.

The official lineups will be submitted to tournament organizers today. The official announcement will follow after.
